Mohammed AlMehdar
I am Ph.D. researcher in International Economics and Finance at Brandeis International Business School. My research lies at the intersection of economics, finance and machine learning. I utilize artificial intelligence to build models in policy, economics and finance. Prior to my PhD, I studied computer science and engineering. I believe strongly in interdisciplinary thinking and bridging between different fields and methodologies.
I also have extensive experience in consulting for private and public organization in a wide variety of issues spanning economics, energy, climate, finance, health and development. I am especially interested in complexity science, of which one of the basic tenants is that most social systems are complex ones where indirect effects play a large role. In those types of systems, policy interventions can result in consequences vastly different from those intended. This necessitates a careful examination of modeling assumptions and a holistic analysis that takes into account the interplay of the system's various components. My most recent works are featured in my research page here.
